| Belt Length | Belt Length is one of the most important features on a Treadmill because it is directly tied to how comfortable the users will be when using the Treadmill. You'll want to make sure that the Belt Length you choose is long enough for your Stride Length when using it. Your stride is the distance that your feet will move apart when you run, jog or walk. Belt Lengths range from 36' to 63' with most falling around the 50' to 55' mark.
There are 3 factors to consider when deciding which Belt Length is right for you. First, how tall are you? As a general recommendation, those under 5'4' should look for a Belt Length in the 45' to 55' inch range. Those 5'4'- 5'8', should look for Belt Lengths in the 50' to 60' range. And those 5'8' - 6', should look for Belt Lengths 55' to 60'. And those over 6' should look for Belt Lengths over 60'.
The next factor to consider is your leg length. No matter what your height if your legs are really long, you'll want to look at the high end of the range above or even step up to the next tallest range. Conversely, if your legs are very short, you'll want to look at the lower end of the range for your height, or even step down to the next shortest range.
The third factor to consider is how you want to use your Treadmill. If you'd like to run you'll want to look for a Belt Length on the longer side for your height and leg length. If you'll be walking look for a Belt Length on the shorter side for your height and leg length. If you'll be doing light jogging and/or power-walking, you can stick with the recommendations above. |
 |
Under 50 in. Treadmills — Treadmills with Belt Lengths Under 50 inch are ideal for those below 5'4', those who are slightly taller with shorter legs or who want to walk on their Treadmill. Since these Treadmills tend to be smaller they are also usually less expensive than those with longer Belts. If you're close to 5'4' and you've got long legs or you want to run, you may want to step up to our 50 to 60 in Belt Length Treadmills.

Within this range, if you're looking to walk on your Treadmill, stick to the shorter end of the range. If you're looking to run, you'll want the longer end of the range. If you're close to 6' and you've got long legs and/or you want to run, you may want to step up to our Over 60 in Belt Length Treadmills.
